Welcome to Project Runway. This season we gave fifteen designers from all over the world the opportunity to showcase their talents through a series of design challenges. Each week the designers were presented with a task that tested their abilities to meet the demanding pressure of the fashion industry while still maintaining their unique style as a designer. As always in fashion, one day you’re in, and the next day you’re out, and after twelve weeks of intense competition, three designers have made it to the final challenge, but only one will win.

For the final challenge we have asked the designers to build a collection inspired by Indian epics. The designers must choose a story that best relates to his or her individual aesthetic and recreate the story of one specific character using five unique runway ready outfits as per the designer's choice. Designers have the option to pick stories from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, or various other sources of Indian stories. We have given each designer eight weeks to complete the challenge with a budget of $10,000. After four weeks, we will check in on the designers to get a sneak peek of their work before the final fashion showcase event.

The designers will then have the chance to showcase their collection at the India Fashion Week event where they will be judged on originality, design quality, and cohesiveness of the collection. Our panel of judges include fashion editor-in-chief of Maya magazine, Nikita; creative director and fashion designer of Radharani, Radhika Shakti; and finally, fashion designer and Dharma Magazine’s Person of the Year, Sita Janaki. In addition, viewers will also get a chance to decide which designer should be named the winner. Based on the judges’ scores and the viewers’ votes, only one will become this season’s winner and take home the grand prize.

This season's grand prize is bigger than ever. The winner of Project Runway will be awarded $150,000 to start his or her business and a pre-paid luxury vacation to any location in the world courtesy of Ayodhya International. Next, the winner will have the opportunity to work with Sita’s Beauty Supply to create an exclusive cosmetic collection to be sold for a limited time. In addition, the winner will receive a year’s supply of fashion accessories from world-renowned fashion company, Radharani.  The winner will be equipped the latest sewing tools and technology to continue pursuing his or her passion in the fashion industry. Finally, the winning designer will be awarded a complete fashion spread to showcase their collection in Maya fashion magazine.
